So I am a huge fan of the Normandy invasion and the Atlantic Wall.  So, when I saw the Basalisk I immediately thought the gun would look good in an Atlantic Wall type bunker.  Know Forge World makes a base for the gun but I like the bunker idea.
Then you need anti personnel, anti armor and anti-aircraft weapons and pillboxes to support the big gun.  Lots of options between Games Workshop and Forge World for these.
Only problem is now I have the Imperials manning the Wall, so who are invading from the sea? Orcs? Tyrannids? Choas Marines?  And what do their landing craft look like?

Chaos Marines with drop pods?  Orks with wartraks (using tracks to propel themselves toward the shore)?  Tyrannids with custom-engineered monstrosities?
To the individual soldiers, *everything* is a frontal assault!

An Orc LVT would look interesting as would an LVCP type.  I would avoid the aerial assualt as that would probably deploy behind the lines like the Glider assaults on the Day.

Traitor Guard Gorgon then.  ;D

The only real option is Lost and the Damned. Which, for those who missed the Eye of Terror campaign were a short lived traitor imperial guard army list which they dropped a while later. Fools.
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

This sounds like a fantastic idea! I think you could go really wild bashing up an ork landing craft or three. Orks should fit well as they have lots of figures. From the steely waves emerge the "green waves".

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?
