QuoteI'm going to see this Robin Hood when it comes out, it has got to be worth a laugh at least. If it's anything like Gladiator it will rock!

Everything looks better with the addition of British Roundels!

And what was the punishment for not following that law....?

It was quite a heavy fine at least. And the whole thing was over seen by the church, so the local priest would know who was missing as they all should have been present at Mass.

I always thought Gladiator was over-rated.  So much so I watched it a second time a couple of years later, and it was still over-rated.

I'll take I Claudius any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

"I Claudius" was terrific...perfect tea time viewing. We used to cook tea then eat it watching "I Claudius"...an episode each night. Only took three weeks.

"Gladiator" is good too, though. I like them all....."Fall Of The Roman Empire" is one of my favourites, even more than "Spartacus" and "Ben Hur".

Love 'em all.
Even "Cleopatra".

Lots of slaughter.

Wot apart from the roads, central government, 3 course meals, education, public baths, sewers? (Python mode off). lol.

Aircav

All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Have you read the books Terry?  I got them out from the village library, fantastic

Oh, and I forgot to mention, the re-enactors I mentioned on page 1 were specialists in the late Roman/early Saxon era.  They'd also done a low budget Roman horror movie in Scotland...forget the name but sounds right up your street! :D

So, what was it like facing the Zulus?  ;)

I did "Breaker Morant", "Gallipoli" and "Light Horseman" back it the 1980s.   Got paid a fortune and all 'cause I had a moustache and was in the army!  Got "special leave" and it was just like being in the real army.  You sat around for most of the day while they made their minds up and then five minutes work and off home for the night!
