Hey everybody,

Got a question I need to form some windows along a fuselage shape, and I was thinking of using that clear acetate stuff that's on blister packs.  What would you recommend for heating the plastic up for forming?  Or is there an alternative?

Clear acetate works fine for smash-forming. I just use a candle (nice and stationary). I start by holding it fairly high over the flame and lower it slowly until I see it soften.

If your fuselage has holes for windows, you should be able to fill them with white glue like Elmer's.

I've also used smash-forming to make replacement cockpits.  It actually works really well, and there seems to be no end of available source materials. . .  They blister pack everything these days.

I've heard some people use toasters as a heat source.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?
