Possibly by whacking a lancaster on top!
It might happen, but it's a different (and rather expensive) project for another day.

And where did you think I got the idea?
I've always wanted an SM.55, but there do not seem to be any kits for sensible money in sensible scales.
There's a pre-decorated one in 1:144 or some other itty scale, but I want to build my own.

There's an old one by an Italian company who's name I can't recall (not one of the majors) that comes up on ebay from time to time.

 Delta, if memory serves. They also made kits of the Campini-Caproni, and M.C. 72 floatplane. An acquaintance
of mine had their SM 55, but  Inever got a look at the parts.

You'd think Italeri would kit it wouldn't you? I mean, it's Italian, it got a whole bunch of records, and it's about as '20s chic as you can get...

I reckon Italeri will eventually kit it - they've been doing a lot more italian subjects lately. It's kinda odd the way they are an italian company, but until recently didn't do many italian WW2 kits. They're fixing this up now, so eventually, they must get to the SM55!
