The Group Profile/Group History (A GB for the non building whiffer)

An odd idea sprang to mind when I entered the GB forum just now...
We have plenty of builders on this site, and plenty of profilers, and plenty of Alternate Historians, yet we only have group events for the builders. Therefore, I'm suggesting a GB for the Profilers and/or Historians. Obviously, this should not replace a GB, but would run along side so that the maximum number of members are engaged in some group event at once.

We could do something like this; A Group Draw in which anyone may enter a profile or other art work limited to a subject. For example; the subject could be 'What do you do with an F-22' (has a nice ring to it, eh?) or 'Steam powered turret fighter airships over the Raj', or something simple like 'New RAAF Display Team Livery'. Then it works like a GB, except people draw/paint/wrangle pixels instead of plastic doo dads.

As for the Group History, it could run along similar lines, but you have to come up with a history. Any diagrams, images etc. can also be included as references and examples. We could have somethign like 'South Pacific Island Nations' or 'The Great Zombie War' or some such. Then all enterants submit thier own history/backstory/take on events within the time frame, and we all vote. Of course, models can be made, but the history is the part we are actually voting on.

Okay, so the names need work, (Group History sounds like a link on a Self-Help coven's website) but these two new categories of group activity would help promote, evolve, develop and polish our skills in areas which are important to our hobby, but can be overlooked due to a focus upon the models.

What do people think? Is this a good idea? Should we try it out and see, or should we boldly schedual fourteen different events for the next six months?  Comments? Ideas? Hippos? Anyone? Beuller?

Thinking about it again - they would be called 'Group Draws' (For profiles and art) and 'Group Writes' (For alt. history and back story contests). For the moment, anyone who fancies can enter film into either (i mean, if you want to make a newsreel of the Canadian moon landing for a Group Write you can!), but I'm not sure if anyhone has the time, inclination or money for film Whiffery.

Good idea - an slight twist would be to allow profiles, stories and builds all be entered into the same GB.

I fear all categories being allowed in a single GB would become an administrative nightmare - the moderator would have to set up three seperate voting sections, and sort things into the right ones. Not every mod would be up for that I suspect.

How about as a test run of this idea, we run a small group draw/group write alongside one of the GBs from the next poll - not one of the very model specific ones (like 'With a Herring' or 'Single Kit Kitbash' because that'd never work), but one of the ones like 'Aero racers' or 'F-111' or something like that.
I'll moderate the Group Draw/Group Write so the moderator of the actual Group Build will not have to take on the extra work load. Cross pollination is allowed of course - your GW entry can be the backstory to your GB entry and so on.
After we've tried it out, maybe we can come up with some specific GP and GW topics for next time.
