Ok, I am doing the Korean War GB over at UAMF and need some decals for the Matchbox Skynight.  Looking for any of the night fighter markings.

Also looking for decals for one of the Malta Gladiators to use on one of my Heller 72nd scale kits.

Thanks.

Hya Phil
I might have some decals that will do the job for you, as I built a matchbox skyknight a while back and didn't need the decals.
I will have a root round and let you know.
Cheers,
Chris.

Chris,
Any luck?

Also, got a deal on a Hasagawa Mossie (72nd) with Israeli decals.  While I love the Israeli AF, don't plan on putting those markings on this kit.  Anyone have any interesting Skeeter markings?  Thought about the Nightfighter version as all the antenna are there (and it is an easy paint scheme) but something in D-Day markings or other interesting ones would work.  Can even trade the Israeli markings if someone wants them.

Also may be interested in whiffing this one if someone has a neat scheme (and no, not German, sorry Mav).

Hya Phil,
I have not had chance to look properly yet as all my day light hours  have been taken up by working on my motorbike yet again  :banghead:
I will go and see what there is and also have a look at what I might have for your Mosquito. How about some US path finder or high altitude reconnaissance ?? medium blue with a red tail and half invasion stripes on the fuselage and on the wings. I will go now and see what I have anyhow

Right then Phil,
I have found the skyknight decals for you, the sheet is complete and in good order, plus I have found some other decals that might float your boat for your mosquito. How about, US Navy A-1J Skyraider decals? paint it in grey over white, and make it a US Navy COIN/CAS aircraft.
Bristol Blenheim IV decals with RAF and free French decals. CAC Boomerang decals, no, 83 squadron RAAF. F7F-1 tigercat, USAF P-47N.
RAF Hurricane Mk I/IIB, if any of these are any good to you, let me know when you PM me your address Phill.
Cheers,
Chris.

That Heller kit is a good one. I think it comes with some fine decals. The Malta Gladiators were pretty run-of-the-mill Sea Gladiators with standard roundels in six positions (they had their tailhooks and dinghy packs deleted for "extra speed"). The only "defining" characteristic would have been their serial numbers.  I could look up the Malta Gladiator serial numbers for you. You just then pick a number.  I *MAY* have a set of Gladiator decals specifically for Malta, and they would be surplus, as I have already made my Malta Tribute Whif--

The current Airfix Gladiator has decals for one of the Gladiators on Malta.

I guess that was what I was thinking of, or maybe the Frog Gladiator. At any rate, the Airfix Gladiator, unless there has been a "new" molding come out, is a 1960's or worse issue, and doesn't compare to the excellent Heller kit.

I found my old stash of Gladiator decals. My Airfix Gladiator (purchased in the 60's) had pre-war "Hendon Air Show" markings. The Frog Gladiator had UK-based or Finnish markings.

The aftermarket Gladiator decals I have are Stoppel (I think?) decals, but did not have Malta serial numbers, so sorry, philp, I can't help you as I thought I could. I can, however, give you the serial numbers of the Malta Gladiators so you can whip up your own serial numbers if you have a sheet of small letters and numbers.

From Christopher Shores' "Malta, the Hurricane Years", the six Gladiators that operated from Malta had these serial numbers:

N 5519
N 5520
N 5523
N 5524
N 5529
N 5531

Above are the "original" set from which "Faith, Hope, and Charity" were scrounged. The names were never actually assigned to the aircraft, and it took the six of them to keep two or three serviceable. Though there were other six other Gladiators on Malta, they were in crates and merely used for parts (did not fly).

The fighters were "ready" in mid-June, 1940 when the Italians started their aerial bombardment missions.  Though the Gladiators *MET* incoming raids and shot their guns at the Italians, they actually did not shoot down an enemy aircraft until AFTER the arrival of some supplemental Hurricanes at the beginning of July.

I hope this helps.

For the Mossie, I have a set of Beaufighter decals going spare if you want them? RAF and RAAF I think, but I'd have to check. Just an option. Or, Polish markings from an Il-28? Vietnam B-26K?
