Hi Everyone!

Did the Turkish NAVY operate any of their own aircraft during the WW2-era, and if so, what were their colours and markings?
I have some interesting What-If aircraft profiles I'd like to make.

I'm not finding a whole lot online about the modern Turkish Navy, period.  There's a fairly detailed article about them on Wikipedia, with lots of info regarding the types of vessels they've operated, but there's precious little about naval aviation, other than what they currently operate.

Edit: I didn't search deeply enough.  I found this page:

http://www.aeroflight.co.uk/waf/turk/navy2/turk-navy2-home.htm

Which indicates that the Turkish Navy didn't establish an air arm until 1971, with the first aircraft being Grumman S-2 Trackers.

That is quite surprising, Turkey being bounded by the Med and the Black Sea. No seaplane arm? ASW or SAR helos?

Pre-World War II, the Turks operated two Rohrbach Ro IIIa flying boats from the mid-twenties (see this link for photos in Turkish markings or more info - http://www.histaviation.com/Rohrbach_Ro_III.html).

Closer to the wartime period, they had 6 Supermarine Southampton IIIs (with Hispano Suiza Nbr engines), some of these may even have survived into the early war years.  They also operated some Supermarine Walruses during the war years (here is a link to an illustration of a Walrus in Turkish colors -   http://colnect.com/bn/phonecards/phonecard/37803-Supermarine_Walrus_1938-46-Turkish_Air_Force_-_9-Turk_Telecom-Turkey).

On this page (http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.hvkk.tsk.tr/PageSub/CokluOrtam/FotoGaleri/GaleriImages/tarihi_ucak/Supermarine%2520Walrus%2520Mk.II.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.hvkk.tsk.tr/PageSub/CokluOrtam/FotoGaleri/TarihiUcaklarEng.aspx%3FpageID%3D16&usg=__luLW5yjcRDOIaqZzTftaJV4gqgM=&h=996&w=1641&sz=568&hl=en&start=6&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=Hk7Wo0Ft0qZaJM:&tbnh=91&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dsupermarine%2Bwalrus%2Bturkish%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox%26tbs%3Disch:1) you can see photos of both the Southampton and Walrus in Turkish colors.
Of course, all these aircraft did not belong to the Turkish Navy, but the Turkish Air Force's naval air brigade.

Hope this helps.
