Testors has now apparently released quick-build kits of the YF-22 and YF-23. They're both to 1/72nd scale, and have a minimum number of parts to 'assemble'. I've seen the YF-23 in the flesh, and it was painted a horrible grey and OD Green scheme. Raised panel lines, and a general similarity to the Italeri kit, if a bit clunkier. If they had the colors right, it would be a decent little throw-together for the desktop; as it is, it will require a full repaint right out of the box.

Oh, wait a minute... that's going to happen anyway!!

There is also the Collect-Aire 1/48th one around (though be warned, it ain't cheap!)

And Zactoman is working on a 1/32 version. Probably won't be cheap either. HERE'S the in-progress thread on ARC.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

I picked up the Testors kit, and it's cr*p - underscale (length is 1/91 and span is 1/90), there is a blob in the cockpit, and worst of all the 'working' landing gear and lack of gear doors. It's a great kids toy, but it's only a model in the loosest sense of the word, and roughly HO scale at that!?!
