many of you, might remember me building the Bordurian Bf.109G, witch was on the frontpage here some time ago,
now im proud to announce that preperations and building is starting on a number of aircraft from the famous Belgian comic book series.

first up, is the Tiger Moth used by the Thompsons (in Belgium they are called Jansens) in the comic "the Black Island". where Tintin "borrows" a chipmunk from a local UK flying club to fly to scotland. the Thompsons then commendeer a Tiger Moth to chase him down (tintin was framed for a crime in this story)

second one is the Arado Ar196 from the album "The Shooting Star" in witch this aircraft belonged to the research team that invasigated a crashed comet in the arctic ocean.

the aircraft i will use are the airfix 1/72 Tiger Moth, with decals supplied to me some time ago by MartinH, the arado will be the venerable Revell (ex-matchbox) Ar196 with custom made decals.

on the "to do" list in the near future are:

-Mosquito FB.VI (from "the red sea sharks")
-Hawker Demon (converted Revellbox Hawker Fury, from "cigars of the Pharaoh")
-Auster OAP (from the same comic)
-Spitfire (Khemed AF, i think its a Mk.1 or a Mk.V, from the album "Land of Black Gold")
-La-5FN (Syldavian Air Force, i think it was noticed in "Desitnation Moon", but i can be hard to identify)
-the Shark Sub (from the album and the (upcoming) movie "the secret of the unicorn", converted Me262b)
-Bf.109 (from "King Otocar's Scepter,.......oh wait, already build it  ;D)

what-if in a very special way, this is funny
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

The Tiger moth is nearing completion, main assembly is largely done, however, im not to fond of the stock propellor of the airfix kit, it looks a bit fat, thats why im replacing it with a spare from a revell 1/72 SE5a (witch comes with both a 4-bladed and a 2 bladed prop.)

the Ar196's cockpit panels have been painted and decalled and the inside has recieved a first layer of metallic grey.
cockpit assembly (seat, stearing wheel & pedals) is done and painted, ready for fitting.

earlier this week, i build up the fuselage with the cockpit, wings and tailplanes.
the floats and the engine were also put together.

yesterday, the plane and floats were painted in primer, some of the gaps in the engine were also filled up.

This morning, the floats were painted up in a first layer of yellow, a second one will be applied over the weekend, as the paint takes to long to dry.
the aircraft has only partially recieved a first coating.

Mighty cool! I read a few TinTins when I was a kid, and I still remember them fondly. Nice to see someone
doing these subjects.

ChernayaAkula

Yuck! That blue plastic brings back some childhood memories. So does the Tin Tin scheme. Read all of them in English as a kid when we lived in Kenya. I guess you could say that Tin Tin and Andy McNab did more for my English than most of my teachers.

Thompson and Thomson (Without a P! As in "Venezuela"! ) are called Schulz and Schulze in German.
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

BUMP:

since the pirate GB entries are done, im gonna get back to work on the TinTin project
beginning with the Tiger Moth, i started paintwork, with a first layer of yellow.

the Arado Ar196 is as good as done, all i want to do now is give a few spots another coat of yellow.

Sic biscuitus disintegratum!

Cats are not real.
They are just physical manifestations of collisions between enigma & conundrum particles.

Any aircraft can be improved by giving it a SHARKMOUTH!

Yellow can be very difficult to do Nils. You've certainly cracked it
