I have found that after masking an area of white on one of my models which was sprayed from a rattle can for a set of identification marking and then brush painting the rest of the aircraft, I now have a slight ridge at the edge of the area I had masked. As I normally don't need to mask the models I build I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on how to remove the paint steps yet still keep the paint on the model ?

You could try sanding it away with very fine grit sandpaper (2000). Wrap the sandpaper around a thin sheet (1-2 mm) to get a narrow strip, so you can hit just the ridge and not the surrounding area.

I've had reasonable results using sanding sticks, micromesh or the type the missus gets for her nails.  If you're careful, you can get the ridge without touching the surrounding area.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Thanks, I will try "wet sanding" with some 4000 grade or finer sanding pads I have from a polishing kit once I get most of the main paint sorted out. My masking was not as good as I would have liked it to be unfortunately  :(
