I made the CFTs from the FAST packs off of a 1/72nd scale F-15E kit. I replaced the tail surfaces with those from an Italeri Tornado, and added a nice fairing from a 1/72nd droptank off of a blackhawk. A greeble was added from a gundam kit, and then I swapped the intakes for those from the - you guessed it - 1/72nd scale F-15E.

I like this Phantom!
I was interested to see if there was any possibility to apply pieces of Tornado on Phantom.
I see that it is possible and the result is beautiful.

Thanks for explaining to us how you did the "fast packs": one of my future plans is of do "works" on  another Phantom, but I had no idea of how to make "fast packs". Now I know how.
Very good work and nice concept.

Yeah, she definitely isn't small! I'll post it in comparison to something once I get back onto building.

Marcat - glad you like my results. Hope you stay to see how she turns out, and I'll look forward to seeing how your variations on the theme turn out too!

I'm interested to see how this project will go. The beginning is good.

More progress has been made, and now the big lass has her colours on -

I was thinking about adding some expanded mesh grilles to the intakes, since their lack of detail is kind of dull.
The fact they're angled out bugs me now even more, but I don't want to strip everything down and rebuild at this late stage.

The colours were interesting to choose. I wanted a flanker-ish scheme, and nothing that realistic, but not too bizarre either. I think they bring the shape up well too.

The single canopy looks pretty slick as well, in my opinion. And really unique!
If I had to do it again, or maybe sometime in future, I might go back and redo a couple of things, like adding more surface detail and rescribing a bunch of the panel lines - but I'm still pretty happy with the way she's turning out.

I've got all the weapons and gear painted and ready for a wash, and then to be added. I've got to cook up some decals too, but that'll be straightforward.
Almost done - quite excited about it too!

Well, she's been done a while, but what with moving into my first home with my girlfriend (woohoo!) it's been a while since I've been able to unpack everything, and take photos - and my camera died too, so I apologize for these - they were taken on my phone.

The colour scheme looks great, after I applied a heavily watered down black wash, and then a couple of coats of varnish.

All that ordnance looks mighty under there.

Sadly, the canopy accidentally got a little misting on the left hand side right at the end. But it's a small problem - I can probably get rid of it eventually.

The decals are for the 'Roughriders' a mercenary group that resides primarily in my head, and eventually in a story I'll write. I'm probably going to decal up a few other planes I have in mind with their emblems.

And so she's done - my first chop-and-change WHIF. More of them to come!

Great scheme, and that last pic just makes it look beautiful. What colors did you use?
