Similar to the new defense thinking in UK.To save money various countries pooled their aircraft and merged squadrons for the maritime strike role starting with France/Belgium/UK  for Biscay and Channel   Germany/Denmark for the Baltic and approaches leaving Holland/UK for the North Sea as far as the Norwegian sector.

This example is the merger of 74(UK)sqdn and 311(Netherlands)sqdn. Seen here with the distinctive tiger squadron tail. The nose still carries the double tiger emblem from that years air tattoo.
Love it or hate it,you have to admit the Starfighter and Excocets were made for each other (well in my deranged mind they are)

PS. before a well known personage jumps in to tell you...yes I did have to "borrow" some decals(the very very small Dutch roundels inside the nose roundels) ,without which this project would never have come to light .........................this side of Christmas anyway.

Where did you get those small Dutch roundels? I've got a couple of 144 scale aircraft that could use them.

They were a gift from the Hunter collector bloke. Came from a modeldecal sheet a special F-5 scheme I believe.
