New to this board, but we have been producing a range of 1:700 scale 'what if', 'never-was' and 'cancelled' warship kits since 1993.  Some of our past kits include the British G3 and N3 1921 battleship designs, the USN Lexington and South Dakota BC/BB designs from 1921, the USN BB Montana from 1941 and most recently, the British 'Malta/Gibralter' class carriers from 1943.  We've also done 'what-ifs' from Germany, France and Japan.  All the kits have been resin, but recent kits have made use of 3D-printing for small parts that are not practical or possible to produce in resin.

For you ship modelers, we have announced a new range of 1:700 scale 'what if' ships: the British 'cherrytree' designs from the post-WW1 years.  (Cherrytree being the nickname because their development was cancelled by the Washington Naval Treaty of 1920.) These design studies led to the G3 and N3 ships.  The first kits will be the L-II and L-III battleships.  The L-II is a twin turret design, the L-III a triple-turret variation.  Both would have been armed with 18" main guns and 6" twin turret secondaries, and both designs would have measured 850' X 106'.

We are expecting to release the L-II in August 2014, and the L-III in the Fall.

Also, we have reissued a resin/3D hybrid kit of the 1:700 scale German 'Kreuzer P' design from the cancelled 'Z' plan.  This kit is available as a resin hull with 3D-printed superstructure.  The hull is available direct from IHP, while the superstructure and parts are purchased from our Shapeways.com store.

August will also see a reissue of the 'Kreuzer M' German light cruiser design, also from the 'Z' plan.  It will also be a resin/3D hybrid kit.

More new 'what-if' ship designs are in the works, including more Cherrytree battleships, the French BB Alsace, and the British cancelled 1965 fleet carrier 'CVA-01'.  Most of these will be released in 2015.

See our website and eBay store for other 1:700 'what-if' ship kits and to see what else we make and who we are.  We also have a Facebook page, accessible through our website, and we are also now on Twitter (twitter.com/ihphobby).  CAD renderings of the Cherrytrees and some actual 3D-printed preview samples of the parts are shown on both our social media venues.

Thanks!

Hi Mike

Welcome to the What-if modellers forum, looking forward to the CVA-01 as thats long been a favourite of mine;BTW have you picked up Warship 2014 as it has a nice article on CVA-01 illustrated by John Jordan, which should help on some of the details.

Sure some of the crew here will rather like both the ship projects, and some will be interested in the real railway stuff too and some will find ways to whif the latter ! ;D.

Cheers

Thanks, Geoff!  I do know about that article, and I was also able to get some Admiralty drawings for the ship recently, so once I can get some time to make the CAD model (I do all our CAD work), we'll definitely do a kit!  Probably in 2015 though, as our plate is full for the rest of this year.

Welcome aboard, Mike!

Not much of a ship modeller, myself, but I hope the shipwrights among us delve into your product line as it looks like you've got some great ships on offer.

I have two of the IHP older kits (G3 and the Montana) in the stash, and they are both lovely pieces of work. Highly recommended.

I must really sort out getting their new 'Malta' class British Aircraft Carrier, I was planning to get it last year but it was unfortunately delayed whilst Mike got to grips with the 3-D prototyping and production which was new for his ship line and when it came out circumstances have meant I've not had the chance or means to get one as yet  :banghead:.

But I will be getting one and I will certainly get the CVA-01 when that comes out next year as that's one both Mike and me have scratch built for ourselves at one time or another and have mentioned on various forums that its really worthy of a kit, so it looks like that may finally come to fruition

Well finally got things sorted and have ordered the IHP HMS Malta, as it was kinda a must have for me afterall.

Looks like Mikes got the first of his Cherrytree designs moulded and wow wwhat a battleship, i was expecting a retooled G-3 or N-3 as hed had previously released but it going to be an LII which appears to be a super battlship with two twin 18 inch gun turrets for and aft and appears longer than a Yamato from the facebook photo !!!

Thanks for that, Geoff, and your Malta is on its way to you now!

1:700 'L-II' British battleship kits are now available.  Here's the link to our webpage for it, and it's also available through our eBay store.

Erm, see the OP of this thread.....................  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Hi Kit, yes I know that this is Mike's thread, but I just wanted to get the word out. As I understand it, this kit is not a guarantee - it will depend on how many folks declare their interest. Thanks.
