It's a shame the Operation Downfall build has finished, the Vampire would have fit in nicely.  The Vampire is a perfect candiate for 'allied '46', it was almost ready to go at the wars end.  The Vampire was seen in wartime colours since it entered service soon after, Dark Green/Ocean Grey over Medium Sea Grey with squadron codes & Type C Roundels.  It wouldn't be much of a stretch though to put it in desert or SEAC colours, snow camouflage even.

The fact that SMW has finished doesn't necessarily mean that the build has finished Simon. I for one will be continuing with my alternate WWII Pacific scenario

I've got an A-Model Vampire lined up to get SEAC Colours and somewhere in the stash there are a couple of Mariavox Mk I's. The Czechmaster one will be real.

You mean the Venom?

Erm............ does a Venom count as 'swept'? The leading edge sloped back a tad more than the Vampire, but the trailing edge was almost straight. Still looks good though.  ;D

JCF did this 'quick and dirty' profile bash of a Sea Venom with DH.108 wing, much more pronounced sweep.  I like the way the swept wing combined with the arrestor hook fairing gives it that Batplane look.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

A simple conversion would a Nene powered version.  The testbed had no external mods except for a couple of ear intakes for the increased airflow requirements, I'll see if I can dig out a pic.  Maybe a production version would have the wing intakes redesigned slightly?

It did, albeit French.  It was called the Mistral and Heller did a kit of it, sharing the tooling with their Vampire.  It hasn't been available for about 15 years and then it was in a Revell box.  It's not a difficult kit to find though and I've several in the stash, which will end up as either RAF or RAAF aircraft.

The Marivox Vampire is well nigh unbuildable according to some reports I've heard.  I'm tempted to drop the booms and tailplane from the A Model kit into rubber, along with the wingtips.  Heller Vampires are cheap and fairly easy to find.

I like the idea of a SEAC Vampire and have done since I saw the Airfix box art for a Swedish one with white tail bands.  However, I suspect that any used in that theatre would be overall aluminium dope, to avoid the deterioration problems encountered by the Mosquito.

My thoughts as well Lee, but it won't stop me putting it in camo

That has 'Sea Vixen' written all over it, hasn't it?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Pretty much, I believe that although the Swallow project mostly succeeded in revealing the layout was unstable & leaving widows, the data on the wing was used to develop that on the Sea Vixen.  This might work for an interim design, or none-appearance of the Sea Vixen since it's gestation was a lengthy one.

You could almost use a Hunter wing for a similar effect to that one. Enlarge the fuselage as well to get an Avon-powered Super-Venom? (Yes I know there was a Super Venom project as well, the DH.116)
