Hey Guys, just had a WILD Idea:What If there were an Attempt to Create a Double SR-71 or to try Zwilling the Blackbird? Would either Idea Work? What Say You? Thanks For looking.Dan

A straight Zwilling would be pointless and probably impossible due to shockwave interactions from the two bodies.

What you could do with two SR-71 kits is say, double up the engine pods, and use a chunk of one fuselage to lengthen the other (the straight bit ahead of the wing). You could then use the spare outer wing sections as canards and add a third fin in the middle. The result would still be technically improbable, but it would look superficially credible.

How about a bit of scaleorama? Fit a 1/72nd Blackbird on top of a 1/48th one! OR (cheaper) there's a crappy "toy-like" SR-71 kit in about 1/170th scale that you can pick up on ebay for a few quid: either convert it to a 1/72nd single seater parasite fighter carried on an SR-71's back, or make it an unmanned version as a successor to the D-21 drone.

How about re-doing the SR-71 in the style of the B-70?: With three or four engines under the fuselage, uninterrupted wing, downward drooping wingtips, and canards.  You could also open up the 'Q' bays, and give them their wartime fit of four AGM-69 SRAMs!

Sounds to me as if you they would drop the AGM-69's right into the engines.... not so good
