Also located recently in an old folder on Orac, several photos of the first of the Airfix Spitfire PR.19s.

This one is finished as an RAAF aircraft used for mapping Australia in the post war period, hence the RAF Type D markings.  These were straight out the kit, the bodged serials being lifted from an old Almark Spitfire F.VIII/F.IX sheet.

I also found these photos of a cockpit interior.  Pretty sure this ended up inside a Spitfire FRXVIIIe.  It's a resin copy of the interior from the Academy Spitfire F.XIV kit.  Similar bits ended up inside the low back Vb I did last year.

Ah yes, I've always liked those Academy cockpit interiors. Little to chose between them and the purchased resin alternatives, apart from the price of course, and you get a WHOLE Spitfire thrown in as well!  ;D

Except that the Academy Spitfire is cack.  Cockpit is useful, so's the u/c and the prop is ok at a push, but the rest of the kit is awful.  All of mine have either been sold on or reduced to spares.

Radiators have the sides perpendicular to the ground rather than the wing, the fuselage is too deep aft of the cockpit.  Depth of the door too shallow, panel lines all in the wrong places, canopy waaaay too wide, rocker covers too short, prop iffy.  In short, horrid.

It's barely worth scavenging for spares.

Wow!  The crimes that some kit manufacturers perpetuate, hey?

If the answer wasn't wanted, then the question should not have been asked.
