Good to see that old kit done so well. Brings back such fond memories of the one I built back in the 50's when it was a "new" kit.  Love what you're doing but, to me,  the decks need to be a different color from the camo scheme. Just my 2¢, though...

I have to agree with the Father. I'm having a debate in my head about where to go with mine tho !

That's the one ! In the GB section

How'd you make the ice and water ? What are you doing with the spare chopper ?

The water is clear caulk.  Simple harwdare store variety.  Layed out on the base and sculpted with a putty knife to give subtle wave like patterns.  Goes on white, but dries clear in 24 hours.  Allowed to dry and then spray painted with blue spray paint (rattle can). I have used this method many times and find it a great water simulator and it is inexpensive and easy.  Buy a tube and experiment.  Make sure to buy paintable caulk.  Clear is the way to go as it gives a translucent appearance.  I brush on white paint to simulate wake/foam/white caps.  My Sea Master on a tender thread gives some pictures of how it is done.

The ice is simple drywall compound.  Globbed on and sculpted.  Spray painted white.

No plans for the spare chopper.  If you want it I'll snail mail it.  PM with your mailing address.

I was struggling with the deck color.  Could not find good guidance or a color picture for it.  My original paint job turned out horrible, so I went with the cammo overall to hide it.  I left a hint of teak deck (tan) showing through in the high traffic areas of the deck to simulate the paint getting worn through.  I have seen some post war pictures that suggest a greenish deck color.  Would green be good?

Awesome...thanks for the tip on water and thanks for the offer on the chopper ( choffer ? )

I was torn between a CCG or RCN chopper on board. CCG makes sense, but since Canada actually used the HO-4S, with some lovely day-glo hilights, that would look good as well. Now I can do both ! I think the CCG coming out of the hangar and the RCN waiting to take off sounds good !

PM inbound and thanks again !

I would say go for a bluegreen color for the decks. I like that color but I would say it's really a choice of either gaudy or plain for the decks.  A very impressive model no matter what it's color.
