Ummmm in what way exactly do you propose to combine them?

i was thinking about Replacing the Lightning's wings with those from the F-89. Give it a Look that would confuse the russkies Intel like Crazy.Dan

You might want to shorten them a bit: the F-89's wings were a bit bendy and it only managed subsonic speeds! Cropped to suit a Lightning's mach performance, they'd be more akin to Starfighter ones - still bigger though because of the Lightning's higher weight. The tip pods would need to be re-profiled with pointy tips and (probably) a coke-bottle profile for area ruling.
