Does just what it says on the hideously expensive carbon-fibre-reinforced lithium alloy tin: a repository for ideas involving space-shuttle kits.

Here's a profile I did inspired by a side-discussion on Lenny's thread here:

Basically, it's a cut-down British Shuttle with enough subtle steals from the Dan Dare spaceship to name it "Anastasia":

Looking in various model shops today, I noticed the following:

Academy 1/288th orbiter, tank and SRBs: £6-odd.
Academy 1/288th orbiter and 747: £cheapish
Revell 1/200th snap-fit orbiter: £15
Start 1/288th ISS :£can't remember

All of these are somewhat nasty, but in possibly helpful ways. For instance, the Academy Shuttles are split horizontally along the black/white demarcation line, which means you could take a wedge outof the nose to re-profile it. Another possibility would be to make the Anastasia from the 1/200th Revell model and then use the tank and SRBs from a 1/288th Academy one to match it's lower weight. You could also use the fins from two Academy ones to make the Anastasia and still have LOTS of bits left over.

The Start ISS could be re-hashed to make a different British or European space  station for theAnastasia to visit.
