"Who makes the best?..." The ships edition

I was doing some planning for the hopefully upcoming Ships GB, and I realized I was making an assumption.

I need a KGV class battleship as a parts donor for two of my builds.  I was going to just get the Tamiya POW as I want an earlier fit (less stuff to remove) but I hadn't considered the alternatives.

So, who makes the best King George V battleship in 1/700?

As a sidenote, feel free to run with this sucker if you have ship questions.  Presumably one of the ship guys will have built at least one of them at some point.

As far as i know there is only the Tamiya King George V, Prince of Wales & Revell's Duke of York (ex matchbox) available of the class in 1/700.

Not sure on the detail level or fit of the kits however.

Proditor, if you really want to talk ships and learn all about the many kits out there head over to http://www.modelwarships.com/index1.html.  Their review section should answer many a question.  Many manufacturers also frequent the forum, conduct Q&A sessions and listen to our feedback.  Don't know if you're on there or not so if you are just disregard all of that 

I have a 1/700 Tamiya KGV still in the box.  I haven't compared it to drawings and all that but it looks pretty good to me.  Details are fair to soft.  A good PE set from WEM and/or GMM will improve it greatly.  If you're detail nuts, replace all of the armament  and get brass barrels as they main and secondary turrets are a bit off.  Just my $0.02.  I have my earmarked for a whiff Korean War battle group dio with some USN heavy hitters
