Finally, we see the ARA's M1A1 in the scheme we all wanted to see:

New scheme in back, old scheme in front:

High res versions of above available here.

This might also be of use if you want to model:

Mmm, much faster than the Leopards.  They were still sporting plain OD for the first what, 10+ years of their service?

I see they've got at least one platoon of upgraded M113s in service.  ;)

Interesting to see what caused the explosions on the ground in this picture:

Looks like they're still sending Assault Pioneers into do line breeching.

Now thats much better, a proper scheme on the tank, did wonder why you wanted your armour to use your armour in the outback  ;)

If you can keep them supplied (the really hard part) Australia is mostly perfect tank warfare country - wide open rolling plains & desert.

However, as I mentioned, keeping the tanks supplied could be a big problem.

That and the fact that most Australians live on the East coast, near or on the only real mountain range the country has.

Makes an interesting conundrum for a potential attacker.  If they take the easiest route and attack the Top End, they end up rather separated from where the population and industry is, with essentially only two viable logistics routes across the continent (Darwin - Adelaide & points east or Darwin - Mt.Isa - Brisbane and points south) and 3-4000 km to cross to get there.   If, instead they go around the coast by sea, their shipping is exposed to attack the whole way.  Either way, resupply becomes a nightmare.   Unless they attack and/or capture where the majority of the population and industry is, they won't be able to force a decision on the Australian nation.  So, they have problems which are pretty hard to surmount.
