I've put this here rather then in hints and tips as quite a few people may have this kit in the "to do pile".

Was finishing my Airfix Mk I Spitfire (the new tool) this afternoon and the canopy didn't fit !!!! Not much but it was a bugger none the less. In the end I had to saw it into it's 3 constituent parts to get it to fit.

Anyway I looked at another one in the stash and dry fitted the canopy and lo and behold it was exactly the same.

The kit needs a tiny bit shaved off the fusalage at the front of the cockpit opening. Take the opening forward to the panel line. I also chamfered the opening a little at the front end and the canopy fitted like a glove. A minutes work at most if you do it at this stage.

Went and did the other 5 I have in the stash.

how about informing Airfix.

A mod to the tooling shouldn't be too complex an operation.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Size (of the stash) matters.

The Wooksta!

I did point it out the day I bought my first few last August!

The problem is more at the aft end as it's too long but general shaving and sanding all round should sort most of the problems out.

Wonder what the early flat canopy's going to be like?  And there's a rumour that they're going to kit the prototype too.
