HELP!

Does anyone out there have the splinter pattern for Luftwafe F-4 Phantoms.
AND
what are the right colours to use for the ones that were done in shades of grey/gray?
Preferably Humbrol enamels, but anything else will help.

What do you mean, OF COURSE it is not for a RW model :banghead:

Thanks

Jim

Many experimental camo patterns schemes for F-4 were on Don Color site. But now site isn't working. Anyone know what happend?

Gondor

Acording to Modeldecal set 46 the Norm 721 are

NATO matt dark grey RAL 7012   Xtracolour X245 Humbrol 79
NATO matt dark Green RAL 6014 Xtracolour X251 Humbrol no idea

unfortunately it doesn't mention the colour for the underside.

SAM Publications F-4 Phantom II Part 3 says

Norm 72 RAL 6014 Gelboliv, RAL 7012 Basaltgrau, RAL 9006 Weisaluminium

Norm 90J FS36320 Kompassgrau, FS35237 Mittlegrau, FS36375 Schattengrau

Hasegawa's 1/72 F-4F JG74 Moulders kit gives the following information

Norm 72 Mr Colour 304 FS34087 Olive Drab, Mr Colour 331 BS381C/638 Dark Sea Grey, Mr Colour 8 Silver

Norm 90J Mr Colour 307 FS36320 Gray, Mr Colour 337 FS35237 Grayish Blue, Mr Colour 308 FS36375 Gray, Mr Colour 11 Light Gull Gray (radome)

Hope this helps

Not certain which paints you prefer, but here's the enamels I use:

Norm 72 - The classic 'splinter pattern'
Gelbolive - Xtracolour (251) enamel is spot-on, Humbrol RAF Dark Green (163) with a little glossy dark brown (10)
Bassaltgrau - Xtracolour (254) enamel, Humbrol RAF EDSG (123) / RAF Ocean Grey (106) mixed 50/50
Silbergrau - Xtracolour (255), Humbrol Lt Gull Grey (129) or RAF Lt Aircraft Grey (166)

As for the pattern, I can send you a photocopy of the Airdoc decal instructions that I have for RF's. There is a little or no variation from plane-to-plane on the pattern. Teutonic efficiency y'see

For the grey/grey machines, here's a link to an excellent F-4F build by David Aungst on Hyperscale

- This one is in the Norm 81 scheme

The Norm 90 camo - the two or three tone lo-vis greys currently in use is covered by Airdoc on their sheet 48-01. I haven't got that particular sheet, but here's a link to the review over on ARC:

Hope this all helps.
