Do you ever sleep Duncan?  ;D

Not a day goes by without another of your wonderful projects being posted here.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Yet another I've been contemplating for years but never kicked my backside in to doing!  Looking forward to seeing it done Dunc!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Gondor's Modelling Rule Number Three: Everything will fit perfectly untill you apply glue...

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

Great work in progress, and an interesting system development. I didn't know aboot this at all until I'd stopped to read this thread.

I wish I didn't have to sleep...it gets in the way of making models!

As soon as I saw the latest piccies I thought 'D-21'. Then I realised there was no ramjet intake in the nose, but aft of that there are many similarities.

I've had my eyes on this one, on an on and off basis for several years now. I did plan to do it back in 2008 for the What-If SIG Telford RAF 100 theme, but I was just getting into scratchbodging then, so I wimped out, besides which I hadn't the faintest idea as to how to go about creating a model of it, now, with practice, I usually can spot a good donor kit just by looking at the drawings.

Thanks for comments folks.

Got to admit, I'd never have thought about using the Lightning drop tanks & would probably have attempted to adapt the Bloodhound kit.  I guess you're doing it in flight because there are no decent GA diagrams showing the boosters???

That's were I kind of ground to a halt, the length was fairly easy to deal with, the increased diameter much more difficult.  I'd thought about laying successive layers of 5 or 10 thou plastic card, but it doesn't always like to conform.

I think a 'very best guess' could be made from the various pics of the booster, but of course you can't guarantee accuracy.  I'd probably have had a shot at them if I'd have given it a go, but I can very much understand why you left them off.  Also, it just didn't occur to me to pose it in flight!

I guess you've seen it, but UK 75 on Secret Projects mantions he thinks he's seen a model of the launcher that he believes was the same as Bloodhound II.  Again, this is probably how I'd have done it, replacing the Airfix kit's Bloodhound I launcher erector with rams, which I think is the only essential difference between the two launchers.  They also a have a breif description of the naval launcher with five fixed side by side rails, although one member suggests it was only breifly considered.  Would be nice to see a pic!
