Flight path do an "RAF Type 'Y' Weapon Loader":



How far back do these things go?  Were they in use in the 1950s? 1960s? 1970s? Etc.?

I can't seem to find any pictures of how the RAF loaded ordnance after WWII, until about the 1980s.

From that scetch it looks as though the Romans may have used it to sling stones, shoot bolts with. Looks like a cross between an Onager and a light ballista

AFAIK the Type Y was in use in the late 60s, somewhere I've seen piccies of them with white Vulcans in the background. I'm 250 miles from home just now so no chance of finding the piccie.

Interestingly, if you Google 'Type Y loader' images, EVERY one that comes up is from the Flightpath web page!

I was looking at the Dapol Battle of Britain and thinking very large airfield Bowser.

switch the front and the rear. Add road wheels and replace the cab with say a modified Matador cab and voila very large  airfield  bowser
