Thanks guys for the generous comments.  Here's someone else's P1027/Tempest 7 taken at a show within the last couple of years - does anyone know who built the Tempest with the wing radiators to the left, and whether the nose was scratch built or came from a conversion kit?  Would like to know for the purposes of building Sabre Fury prototype LA610.

I have done a P.1127 too;

The Tempest with the leading edge radiators is an 'in-service' Tempest Mk.I (I think), there is a conversion available from Jay's Models which used to be Ventura.
I've got five in the stash but here's four of them that I got very recently. What you see on the sprue is what you get (in 1/72 of course)

And I'm using another to do LA610

Great idea, plausible. I like the clean lines and aerodinamical nose.  :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :bow: :bow:

That's handy to know, thanks.  Looks as though they're mail order only from Oz, unless sonmeone knows of a UK retailer?
Nice P1027, by the way - I had seen it before.

You can get the conversion direct from Jay's Models or through High Planes.  Either way it's cheaper, even if you include the postage.

Thanks Kitnut.  Did delve earlier and ordered from Jays Models (in New Zealand) - cheaper than UK-based e-models by quite a margin!  The madenss of the modern world!!

The Wooksta!

Both of those are definitely mine.  The Tempest 1 is a converted Heller kit with knock offs of a Czech resin conversion and I lowered the bottom of the engine for the ram scoop rather than the silly intake of the prototype.  I left the bigger fin for "ease of production" following the switch from the Tempest V to the Tempest I in whatever backstory I cobble together for it. So it's a Tempest F1A. :-P

The P.1027 Tempest F.VII is now retired due to a collapsing u/c.  The weight of the resin engine and the fact that the u/c on both the Academy and Heller Tempest are nigh on scale thickness leads to nasty sagging.  Think I've half a dozen of these now, plus a pair of the hybrid version with the Fury wing.  The P.1030 will be back on the blocks in the new year.

Your take on the P.1032 then, Lee?

The Wooksta!

Never seen a drawing of it, mate.  Just an idle kitbash with a Matchbox Tempest fuselage and a PM Sea Fury wing.

A good looking pair, Lee, I recall seeing both in the past.  Thanks for the tips and the warning about sagging u/c - I'll keep an eye on my P1027!

I think the problem with mine could have been vibration - it had been toveyed about to quite a few shows.
