Honduras C.O.I.N CF-100.

In the mid 1980's the Honduras airforce acquired 10 Canadian CF-100 Canucks that had recently been retired. The aircraft were to be used in a completely different role, so went through a complete rebuild. The aircraft had new wings fitted, armour and newer avionics. The wings were also fitted with 12 new hardpoints, these can carry any of the air to ground hardware in service at the time, and also be able to carry newer types when needed. The aircraft served their purpose well as counter insurgency and close air support aircraft, as well as helicopter convoy escort and combat air patrol duties.Currently there are only 4 of the original 10 aircraft in service, due to combat losses and fatigue. The pilots of these aircraft are sadened that the aircraft is going to be withdrawn from service soon, as nothing else in the inventory can do the job as well as the Canuck can.

Ther only concearn I had was with the main landing gear well, it is one piece and sticks to the inside of the lower wing/fusalage, saying sticks, mine didn't when I came to put the landing gear in. This made for about 30 minutes of choice language and hair pulling fun  Getting it to sit right and stay there whilst the glue set was not going to happen right. The wings are a pain to keep level too so keep your eye on those too. All of them 
Other than that, it was pretty ok for a Hobbycrap kit.

2 tips for building the 1/72 kit:

1: The wings should actually have some dihedral (don't have the exact numbers handy). I used a couple of old Testors paint jar lids to hold the ends of the wings up while they dried. (That's on a Mk.5. On a Mk.4 with the shorter wings, use something thinner)

2: The rear fuselage is all screwed up in the kit. The join between the mid-fuselage and rear fuselage causes the aft section to droop for some reason, whereas on the real thing the light at the end of the empennage should be in line horizontally with the radome. I section mine about 2mm at the top of the tail part of the fuselage join, tapering to nothing at the bottom. That's pretty close to the actual shape. 

As far as your build: any CF-100 is cool! Although them'd have to be some pretty substantial replacement wing spars, seeing as the Mk.5 was limited to 3.5G with tip tanks installed...
