Many thanks for the compliments everyone! Finished it but not sure I got it in on time!
I scratched a control panel and gun sight from scrap, canopy isn't glued on yet but I took some pics anyway.
I've called it a Do355, it's an all-weather heavy fighter with a US or British radar fitted and is in service with JG2 "Richtofen" Squadron. Engines are two developed HeS 011's, armament is two 30mm MK108 canon mounted in the fuselage, two MK212 canon mounted in the wing and two hardpoints for WGR-21 rockets, bombs or X-4 missiles. Do335's weapons bay is retained but usually carries an extra fuel tank.
Paints are all Citadel/Games Workshop, Spacewolf Grey undersides, Shadow Grey and Catachan Green for topsides. Decals from spares box.

Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

You did a fine and believeable job of taking the Do-334 into the "modern" age. I really like it, though it would seem more like a late-50's or early-60's style aircraft.
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

Cheers everyone, glad you liked it! Sequoiaranger, I was thinking exactly the same as it was coming together. Kept saying Bugger! this is looking far later than 1946! But not a lot I could do about, it just sort of evolved from whatever was in the spares box that fitted in the places I'd cut out!

I could see this being part of the "Surviving Weimar Democracy plus WAllies against Soviets and Japanese" scenario, aided by British Radar and Jet Technology.
