Hi,
I've looked at the 'search' under Neptune and although this topic isn't new, I have been building my own version of the MK2.
The build.
The engines still use the same cowling, but by scrapping these out a turbo props from D J Parkins have been inserted and glued in place with super glue. Propellers will come from a 1/72 E-2C 2000. Exhaust pipes are two nozzles from a Harrier.
The weapons bay has been cut out and lengthened to allow the rear part of the Airfix BAe Nimrod to fit. This had to be trimmed down (as it was too long) and parts from my Revell Atlantic's weapons bay racks glued in place. Weapon bay doors are from the Airfix BAe Nimrod. A P-3 Orion provides the sonobouy launch tubes.
I managed to get glue on the round transparent part witch fills the part of the upper turret and has now been painted over.
The undercarriage legs broke, so the aircraft will now be displayed with the gear up. I've fitted an in-flight refueling probe to the right side (came from the Heller C-135FR kit).
I left the cockpit area as per instructions from the kit, Airfix figures don't fit, so the kit supplied ones will do. I've added ESM pods from the Airfix BAe kit to the tips of the wings and two underwing pylons that will be fitted with Harpoon anti-ship missiles. The old ESM (rugby ball shaped) housing has been added to the vertical tail stabiliser.
