Sort of "real world," this is the car belonging  to Les Wilkins, protagonist of The Terror from Space!, an original Sci Fi story from my To the Moon, Mars, and Beyond series.








I don't do cars very often, and I think it shows.

Ah, the AMT 51 chevy... I've built one of these... and it's cousin the hardtop '53 chevy. Bit of a dog of a kit really...

one tip - get yourself some Bare Metal Foil for the chrome work. There's rather a lot of prominent chrome on a 50's car (it only gets worse the further into the decade you go - 1958 Buick anyone?) and decent chrome makes a hell of a difference to the look. Painting the chrome silver always seems to result in a sort of toy-like look. BMF can be applied over the top of paint and varnish etc, so it's something you can always add later.
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.
