Hey Guys, i was watching an Episode of UFO on Youtube, and the Vessel in Question looked to be a County Class Destroyer with Sea Slug Missiles! Can Anyone tell me how long the Sea Slug missile was in Service with the RN? the UFO episode was Called Destruction! I'm not sure about posting the link,i might but, if you choose to, you can search ufo destruction on youtube! thanks for looking. Dan

Well the County class Destroyer served from the early 60's till the late 80's with the Royal Navy and carried onto the 90s with the Chillean Navy with Sea Slug but phased out the missile and rebuilt the stens to accomodate an extended Helicopter Deck and new larger hanger.

UFO was filmed in about 1970 when the County class were the primary RN AAW destroyer as the new Sea Dart ships didn't enter service till the mid 70s.

Nice find Dan! The ship is indeed a County and that's some good footage of Sea Slug ops: notice the black "starfish" trail as the boosters separate.

The gunnery footage is from a Tiger class though: 6" and 3" 70cal..
