Agreed, Kit, I have a sore throat this morning.

Daft ideas.....we were discussing various topics, including how a number of influences perceive "heritage" and "history"....and how they can alter the perspective of the public.

Then fims and the remake of the "Dambusters", etc.. I NEVER watch a film from the point of "accuracy"...it's pointless. So many compromises are made on technical and cinematic grounds.....but I did consider that Hollywood might put a Wookie as the pilot in a Lancaster on the Dams Raid, with perhaps an R2 unit in the upper turret position? (Kit's suggestion) or even just where the astrodome is?

For a remake you'll need a B-17.

it was just ideas for improvements.....

like i should have built the GWR coach liveried tank with a copper chimney cap 

still i enjoyed building them quite a bit.

Interestingly, just a few weeks ago there was an episode of Ice Pilots NWT, where a film crew had commisioned Buffalo Airlines to do some 'dambusting' for a film that was being made.  They jury rigged a release contraption under one of the airlines DC-4's, had a 'bomb' which was the correct shape but only about a third of the size, and off they went to a nearby lake.  Here the film company had a dam built  across one of the many streams leading off the lake and after a couple of practice runs and a couple of duff drops, the DC-4 crew actually had a direct hit with the bomb bouncing just right to hit the dam.  Not only were the film guys completley stunned by that, so were the DC-4 crew ----

That was shown as part of a documentary on TV over here. Group of UK scientists trying to recreate the "bouncing bombs"

It comes from years of exposure to GWR modellers who can't even SEE locos unless they have copper caps.
