Door guns.  Long range tanks either internal or external.  Upturned exhausts for IR supression (some variants have this already, I think they come in the Revell TTH boxing).
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

theres already a customer option of cabin mounted miniguns for the NH.90 in the CSAR. role, taken up by a number of nations, including recently Finland.

a speculative 'special ops' role equipped version would probably have an IFR. probe, IR. shielded exhausts, and the side mounted weapons pylons as standard for extra fuel and/or weapons

Time for a Thread revival
I've got a Revell NH90 (Navy) version and want to do a SAR version,
what sort of stuff would a modern SAR Helicopter carry?
would it have a separate Radar/winchman?
might it carry extra liferafts etc on  pylons?
Stretchers and or seats? I take it FLIR is good; anything else?
By the way this one is not going into the danger zone, so doesn't need self defence stuff,
although i guess provision for might be an idea?
Looking forward to your ideas

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

Straight search and rescue choppers carry a loadmaster and often a parajumper who gets in the water to rescue the victim(s).   It would have at a minimum a winch and occassionally a rescue basket on the larger choppers.   It would carry at least one extra liferaft, I expect, plus a large red-cross kit.   Stretchers more than likely plus seating (which is often removed in hot and high environments/combat).   Extra external fuel tanks are likely for extended range/time on station.  At a minimum it would carry a FLIR and more than likely radar.

SAR equipment for the NH90 is pretty simple.

here in Belgium, the standard SAR equipment (asside from the NH90-NFH's standard radar and FLIR camera) is medical equipment in the rear ofthe cargo and an SX-16 NightSun searchlight (as seen being factory tested in Germany, on a Belgian NH90-NFH)

well, that didnt take long, apparently Belgium is the first country to retire the NH90-TTH, and that after only 7 years of service.
apparently, the high operating costs, lack of industrial support, late spares supplies and low availablility (due to the too few ordered, only 4) have urged the BAF to retire them early and put them up for sale. the 4 NFH versions would be retained for maretime ops and SAR. replacement is rumored to be the H145M (10 or 15 to be ordered, to replace the remaining 8 Agusta A109's aswell). i always said that 4 of each version is way too few (if you count downtime for maintanance and repairs, wich means A LOT).
