On the production line;
1/72 Revell Br.1150 Atlantic with BAe Nimrod wings. I've found the canopy glass and removed the Nimrod nose section, replacing this section with the Atlantic's' nose gear,and main undercarriage. The support struts on the main landing gear cut to fit the Airfix BAe Nimrod wing section. Wings have added spruce, which take up the interior cowling space for the engines. The vertical tail fin has a Hawkeye spin top. Along the spine parts for the Italian variant have been added. The dustbin radar dome has been removed, this could be used as a crew entry by adding a ladder or machine guns from one of the helicopter gunships in my stash.
Yes I know what you are going to say "AEW & C platforms don't have self denfence weapon systems". But as this is a prototype, I was thinking along the lines of air-to-air missiles as well.

1/72 Lockheed Neptune MR2. Six bladed turboprop engines from a Hawkeye 2000 kit. Weapons bay from the Revell Atlantic, weapons bay doors from the Airfix BAe Nimrod. Sonar buoy launcher from a P-3 Orion. Snapped off inflight refuelling probe from a Nimrod. Glass bits painted black, fuselage painted in battleship grey, weapons bay matt white with own hand built stand.

1/72 Two seater Lockheed F-117 low tech Delta wing. Wings and vertical tail are from an Airfix RA-5C. Second seat created by cutting plastic from behind the main cockpit. Donor Hobbyboss F-117, weapons bay could house recce or large belly fueltank.

Blimey!!
Great minds think alike!! ;D I hadn't seen your model before I made my posting! It will be broadly similar though. Bevause of the increase in length/side area, I'll also be fitting larger tail fins. I want to arm it with Browning .50 calibre guns but, I'm not sure where to source the gun turrets.

0.50 calibre gun turrets can be obtained fairly easily if you like vac form canopies. It partly depends on what you want to use. I have decided to stick with turret types that were used on the Lancaster so most of an FN 82 rear turret was sorced from a Hasegawa Lancaster kit which is being cross kitted with a Revell FN 20 while the mid upper turret is a Martin 259 CE with I am building from a mix of parts with the glazeing from an Italeri B-24 and the interior parts from an Academy SB-17.

But then again albeback this is whif and your model you can arm it with whatever you want.

Thanks Gondor.

I've got a Revell PB4-Y Privateer which I'm going to build as the transport version. I reckon at least I could use the upper and rear turrets. Might also be worth seeing if I could graft on the nose with the Elco ball turret.

Looking forward to that one a lot...
