Not planning on a Finnish Ta 152 or a Japanese Ar 240, but I have been thinking about building my Tamiya kit of the Japanese Geico nightfighter.

Oh shame.......I only have if memory serves a 1/72 Ta152H in the stash,but I think most of the air warfare was medium to low height.....might have to be a D9 then......I would have loved to have seen your effort n the subsequent photos.....look forward to whatever you do do though......H

The Ta 152H was designed for high altitude combat but by the time it came to actually being used more combat was being done at lower altitudes which was no problem for the Ta 152H because it was a good fighter at all altitudes. If the Ta 152H could survive the first pass by an enemy fighter it could easily catch any Allied machine in the following tight turns.
The Finns would have shredded the Soviet aircraft if they could have been supplied with Ta 152H's.

Awesome......thanks for that.....I once read an apparent account of professor Tank taking off in an unarmed Ta152H and outrunning a number of P51's that had started to attack the airfield....an impressive a/c indeed..

I can remember reading that too, he used the GM-1 nitrous oxide injection system fitted to the engine and just outran the Mustangs.

I surmised that the "stencilled" look of the Hakenkruz was "correct", coming as it was from such a meticulous researcher as M-1.

But, for a very brief moment I thought maybe he had used some of those tail decals that some model manufacturers "masked" to bypass restrictions on displaying actual Hakenkruzes.

Yes the swastika on the model looks funny but as the war was coming to an end that style of swastika was starting to be used. The Me 262 nightfighter was the best known for using this type of swastika but a few recycled Fw 190s and Bf 109s were also produced with a stenciled swastika but a slightly different version.
