For years I've been looking for info on the NAA WS-302A project.  I was given a very large working model of the center section of this vehicle.  At the Tri-Sonic Wind tunnel at El Segundo, Ca.  There was a desktop model on display.  Just recently a friend who has a huge collection of aerospace models showed ne TWO versions of the WS and also had a cutaway drawing.  Years ago I did find an article but I lost it, d'oh.  Tony Butler's book, American Secret Bombers has info on it, does anyone have Tony's contact info?  I sure would like to add the rest of the vehicle to the model I have.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Nice post rr!  Always liked this bird, ahead of it's time.  Kitnut 617 has contact with Tony Butler, it might be worth sending him a PM.  There's a little bit of info on the Secret Projects forum (I think Tony Butler is also in contact with the forum creator, Overscan).  They might like to see the model on there, although IIRC you might have to make several posts before you can upload pictures.

Gents, IIRC & without having my copy of American Secret Projects Fighters to hand, I think this design predated the Vigi by a few years.  It was an interceptor & it eventually evolved into the XF-108, although looking at it it does seem to have had some influence on the design of the A-5.  It was a pretty spectacular design for an early fifties project.
