i was planning to build this one last year, but unforunatly didnt find the time.
so i think this GB is the perfect reason to revive it.

the kit will be a Matchbox 1/72 Buccaneer S.2, with decals from an Esci roundels scheet and various selfmade decals.
will be made up Royal Australian Navy markings, depicting an aircraft operated from HMAS Melbourne and HMAS Sydney

as for color scheme, im thinking old-fashion USN grey/white edges, similar to that used on the Royal Australian Navy A-4 Skyhawks

on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

The Buccaneer will look great in the 80s scheme you've designed

Nils, if I can make a suggestion, the RAN/RAAF tended to keep their aircraft in the scheme of the manufacturer initially, so a Bucc would probably be in a standard British scheme.  This would give you a few options, all over Dark Sea Grey or Extra Dark Sea Grey, with white undersides on some aircraft.  You could substitute Medium Sea Grey if you wanted a lighter colour.  Camouflage might even be possible if the RAN were to take later RAF machines.

That's not to say it wouldn't look good in the A-4 scheme & nebnoswal's later camouflage looks excellent.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Hi Nils

The Grey over white would work as the RAN picked up the USN scheme when they got the Trackers, theu also switched to USN designations as part of their operations off Vietnam. You could have the RAN taking over either HMS Victorious or HMS Hermes when they were pulled back from the East of Suez as either ship would have been more suitable for the Buccaneer and they were offered.

BTW as well as 805 sqdn the RAN also had 808 Sqdn which could provide an interesting alternative to the 805 Red/White Checks or Chess Knight piece.

Look forward to seeing how this one builds up as most Buccaneers these days are done from the Airfix kit.
