Jmf65, where did the YP-38S Starshooter come from please? I DO like the look of that and you can see how it could be modelled from an early P-38 kit.

Darn it, yet ANOTHER theoretical project. Like I need another one???? :banghead:

Love this. Any updates?
Not really, work and stuff got in the way since yesterday's update... ;)

But I've had another idea. I read somewhere that the Arado E377 flying bomb (as included in Dragon's mistel kit with the He162) was considered to be build as a piloted suicide-plane, but the whole idea got cancelled (thank your god of choice). Soooooo..... let's say it didn't get cancelled. Let's say a couple were built. How would the suits in Berlin know it was successful in obliterating whatever it was supposed to obliterate? Right, make sure there's a witness! Hence you put a 'regular' plane on top of the thing and there you go! Robert's your mother's brother!

Any thoughts?

edit. No way back: I cut a cockpit-shaped hole in the E337... <_<

What's the canopy on the E337? It looks a bit like the one on the prone pilot Meteor but that may be because of it's 'cab forward' position.

Hi Kit,
That canopy is a cut out bit of vacformed packaging I had laying around...
Until I find something better this looks pretty okay, I think.

LOVE it!

It works for me, please don't change it.

We'll see. I like the shape, that's not the problem, but I'm not very confident that regular glue will hold, so I'll put on me white labcoat and do some experimenations experminations exxermatations testing...

Ze proof dat zer iz a hole in ze bomb:

Very small cockpit, so that there is still LOADS of room for fuel and kablooie (ze käblooie?) stuff.

Forget regular glue for vac-form canopies, Kristal Kleer or PVA glue works miles better. It just takes a while to dry and needs wiping down while it's still wet as any excess is a swine to get off once it has dried.

What's that 45 gallom drum doing in the background? Is that part of the mix for the warhead? ;D

Work on the cockpit is done. A seat, a stick, and a rudimentary set of dials.

The stick is mounted on the left side of the pilot's seat. and is angled so that the grip is where it would be had it been a regular-place control stick.
Why this set-up? Because I didn't have enough space to put it in front of the seat... :banghead:

All the idea is a very big proyect, ambitious and risky. I like it.

Slow progress.

I've found another canopy for the flying bomb, as you can see, this one from DML's Me 1101. Dunno. Look's allright-ish but I'm still not shure.
The problem with the vacform canopy is that I just cannot seem to get it to properly fit the fuselage because of the nature of the material. It's just too thin to sand, too wobbly (nice and technical term there) to trim either with knife or scissors. It's my total lack of experience with anything vacvorm that keeps me looking for something else.

So maybe someone has a handy tip for me? Already tried filling the canopy with white tack to help it keep its form while sanding but that didn't work. I dread filling it with something like plaster, as I'm afraid it will not come out again or leaves marks.

Easy way out then is the styrene Me1101 canopy, but I like the shape of the vacvorm one better...
