Does anybody know what North American's rival for the F8U-1 was called?  If it entered service it would have probably been the F2J-1, but it never got that far because it was too heavy.  Appearance wise it had swept, tapered wings, a single engine fed by a bifurcated intake and a pointed nose.  Anybody know what I'm talking about?
That being said, I'd like to remind everybody in a manner reminiscent of the SNL bit on Julian Assange, that no matter how I die: It was murder (even if there was a suicide note or a video of me peacefully dying in my sleep); should I be framed for a criminal offense or disappear, you know to blame.

Okay, it would have been designated the F2J had it entered service and was based on OS-130 specs for a supersonic day-fighter.  I guess I wasn't the only person to think it looked like a Folland Gnat -- I was thinking of a WHIF idea of an aircraft that would be like a scaled up Folland Gnat/F2J-1 Hybrid actually ;D
