The USA had 2 Paddle Training Carriers the Sable and the Wolverine.

Now I suspect any Paddle Steamers in UK waters would have been too short for conversion  to go cruisng up and down a loch somewhere to train pilots. The langest one I've found is 300 foot which is 200 odd foot shorter than
USS Sable

However if we could have obtained our own Great Lakes paddle steamer there's nothing to stop us from training pilots in Canada for the FAA

perhaps the HMCS Mink

I'm trying to imagine the Waverley with a flight deck............  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

pyro, you might be on to something slightly different- Imagine it launching something steampunkish, like steam-powered Taube ornithopters or something.
The Leng Plateau is lovely this time of year
