Here's my first entry to the Aussierama

RAAF P-47 razorback of 84 sqdn Borneo 1945. 84 Sqd exchanged their Boomerangs for second hand P-47's prior to departure for Borneo in support of the Australian troops fighting for the oil fields of Northern Borneo. There they conducted close support and ground attack missions for some 6 months before withdrawal to Australia and rest. They were also reequipped with Hawker Tempest Mk II's during this respite in Australia before transfer to the battle for Java.

It's the 1/72 Academy kit which goes together like a dream. Camouflage colours are from Lifecolour's RAAF box set No 2 with the others being a mixture of the usual suspects. Transfers are from the spares box and are so old I've no idea where they originally belonged. Serial A64 is what was to be issued to the Vultee Vigilant but never used, so it fits the time frame perfectly.

This was a nice simple build which I enjoyed immensely.

More builds for this theme to follow.

Nice!  Very well done, Chris!   You get a Koala Stamp for that!

Something wrong with that Koala - it's awake  ;D All the ones I saw during my 3 day stay in Aus were fast asleep and had to be woken up by their keepers so we could "pet" them

Animal stamps are a cherished part of every Australian child's schooling.  Handed out by teachers for extra-special effort they measured your progress through early childhood.   He's awake, Chris 'cause he's lookin' at you!  ;D

Have to be honest Dave and say I've got the Pavla kit of that P-43 in the stash and that was part of the inspiration
