The model represents the Pr. 23 Bis with some differences made by me.

This ship never existed in the real world, it was never finished!

The Sovetsky Soyuz class battleships (Project 23) ( линкор Советский Союз проект 23 ) were a class of battleships begun by the Soviet Union in the late 1930s but never brought into service. They were designed in response to the battleships being built by Germany. Only four hulls of the sixteen originally planned had been laid down by 1940, when the decision was made to cut the program to only three ships to divert resources to an expanded army rearmament program.

These ships would have rivaled the Imperial Japanese Yamato class in size. They would have been superior to their German rivals, the Bismarck class, at least on paper.

The model features rotating main turrets and elevation; a small radar will be added later. The MOC is also divided in three parts.

Armament:
9 406mm (16") B-37 guns in three triple turrets;
12 180mm (7,1") B-1-P guns in four triple turrets;
12 100mm (3,9") B-34 guns in six double turrets (Heavy AA);
40 37mm (1,5") 46-K guns in ten quad turrets (medium AA);
58 12,7mm (0,5") DShK heavy machine guns in twelve quad, two double and two single turrets;
8 533mm (21") 53-38 Torpedo-tubes (no reloads)

>These ships would have rivaled the Imperial Japanese Yamato class in size. They would have been superior to their German rivals, the Bismarck class, at least on paper.<

My understanding is that the hulls whose construction had begun (Sovietski Soyuz in Leningrad, Sovietskaya Ukraina in Odessa) were more like gun-upgraded Littorios (c. 40-45000 tons, with 3x3 16"). I don't think the larger project (60,000-tonner or so, "UP-41"?) even had keels laid, etc.  There were several "wishful thinking" Soviet battleship projects being considered in the late 1930's/early 1940's. The *BEST* they had operational were un-modified WW I klunkers like the Marat.

Contrary to "intuitive" thinking promulgated by Saxophiles, the Bismarck was probably THE worst "modern" battleship out there and easy to surpass---the North Carolina, Richelieu, and even KGV's deemed to be superior (not to speak of the SoDaks or Iowas!)

But hey! This is whif-land, where anything goes!

My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

That's very impressive Eínon (and quite a lot of Lego  ;D)

Some years ago, I built a modified version of the Soviet Sverdlov class light cruisers:

Guided Missile Cruiser Kalinin
Please watch this and many other fantastic creations here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/einon/

It's a modernized version of the Sverdlov class cruiser. Includes a fixed triple launcher for SS-N-3B anti-ship missiles (6 missiles total) and a SAM launcher for the SA-N-2A AA missile (24 missiles).

The naval battle begins! A Pre-dreadnought battleship battle!

Please watch this and many other fantastic creations here: www.flickr.com/photos/einon/

I made this ships in 2009. Today I'm bored, so I decided to create a small image of the giant battle.

A "What-if" naval battle fought between Russia and Japan during the Russo-Japanese War. (1904-1905). The two ships are the Suvirov (a my own modified version of the Borodino class Battleship) and the Mirai, (a modified Mikasa Battleship).
A small history:

- Sir, we have detected a Japanese Warship. It seems to be the battleship Mirai.
- Prepare for battle, let's sink that ship and send all their crew to the Davy Jones' locker!
-Yes sir!

In the Imperial Japanese battleship, everybody screams: "For the Emperor! BANZAI!!! BANZAI!!! BANZAI!!!"
Both ships open fire. Who will win?

A Pre dreadnought battleship battle!

That pre-dreadnaught stuff is fantastic  :thumbsup:
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Christ! I can't believe I missed this thread. Wonderful stuff. Lego certainly is awesome.
