I have been reading an Ospray book about model painting. The author is Canadian and says "Windex" window cleaner can be used to remove acryllc paint from canopies. Anyone know if this is available in UK and as what? Cheers GeoffP.

The Wooksta!

Fairy Power spray will do this and more.  Guaranteed.

Hi Geoff

Windex is an Amonia based product so presumbly any similar product with that in it's list of ingrediants should suffice ?

Always a problem with non EU products, even if you can get them will the ingrediants be the same ? Different health and safety regs
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Geoff

OK cheers - will the Power Spray effect the clearness of the canopy, anyone tried this? Also if its amonia then nail polish removing pads might well work, I'll have to raid SWMBO's makeup kit.

NOOOOOOOOOooooooo!!   :o

They have LOTS of acetone in them and they'll make your transparencies anything BUT clear! They'll be frosted for life!!!!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

No, it won't. It'll just take the paint off but a good wipe with a cloth and then a bath in Kleer shouul restore any clarity.  Tried it several times - I wouldn't recommend anything I knew wouldn't work.
