I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Now that looks just SO believable, magnificent!

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Very pretty, but wouldn't ETPS have a two-seater to train TPs?

Hello All

As always, thanks for the positive comments, the praise of the unfettered whiffaholics amongst you is much appreciated

The keen eyed amongst you will have noticed that this airframe is the unbuilt (in the real world) third prototype. My sketchy scenario is that someone in Whitehall managed to sneak all three airframes through as possible development precursors for a British space plane?

Now there's a thought  ;D The colour scheme was based on a single seat Hunter operated by the ETPS, so presumably the ETPS operated single seaters, but what they would be used for I don't know? My thoughts on the SR.53 was that it would be an edge of flight envelope experience (am I right in thinking it's climb rate was better than the Lightning?) for more experienced 'trainee' test pilots, a sort of "You've handled everything else, now try this!"

A trainer SR.53 as lead in for an in service SR.177 perhaps? I don't think I'll be cutting up one of Freightdogs new offerings to make it though!

ETPS had a number of single seaters of many types, if only to give the trainees experience in flying with one hand and collecting flight data with the other!  ;D

So the SR53 would fit right in, ideal for gathering data on phenominal climb rates....   ;)

During my own experience with ETPS at Boscombe Down I don't recall any single seaters, however yes they have operated a number.

The aircraft I used as a source for the colour scheme is the following one

http://www.abpic.co.uk/popup.php?q=1082643

The serial is XE601 and there was at least another similar coloured single seat Hunter and also a T.7  The civil registration on the aircraft is
G-ETPS and it was definitely used by the A&AEE so it may have been the present civil registration that led me to believe that there was an ETPS connection, I felt that I'd read it somewhere but I could well be mistaken

I don't have any personal knowledge of operations at either the ETPS or A&AEE so apologies for unknowing misleading anyone!  :-\
