What in the Sam Hill did the USAF do now?

The USAF thought of that one

No they didn't, that's a USAF KC-10 refuelling a USN F-18 using the probe and drogue system.

The KC-10 has both a hose AND a boom IFR system and they're both visible in the pic, the boom is retracted under the tail of the KC-10!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I understand that the USAF KCs have both systems, but I have to admit I'm getting a little confused by the problem at this point as to the location of my refueling location.

Unless of course, you're referring to a matter of refueling principles based on branch of service ;D

ETA: OK, I see USN and USAF Phantoms had the appropriate refueling system installed. I guess out of principle I need to relocate

Still nice, and how about on the spine, between the V/UHF aerials?

I must say I really don't like the camo scheme you've chosen, but that's purely personal preference. It'll be impressive when finished.

I would think about the RF socket - maybe move it to the top of one of the wing gloves, similar to the F-15? I'm not sure it'd actually work tilted to the side like that. Other than that, cool.

PS: Who is Sam Hill, anyway? ;D

It's the Hill Gray II scheme, used on Phantoms. Easy, and better than plain gray.

That's where the refueling socket is on the USN F14s....

I don't know as to the Sam Hill thing

It's an American euphemism for "hell" or "blazes". This link describes it better than I can.

PS It has nothing to do with Hill AFB. That's a totally different Hill.
