TSR2 pilot entry

It suddenly struck me the other day that the pilots of the TRS2 get in from the 'wrong' side.  Convention has it that pilots enter from the left, this being a hangover from Cavalry officers mounting their horse from the left.  For some reason the TSR2 was designed with the refuelling probe on the left and crew access from the right.  Was there a reason for this?  It just seems strange that they would go against 50 odd years worth of tradition....

The pilot boarded the F-104 from the right too, and I think the U-2 as well.

The GR Tornadoes are boarded from the left OVER the FR probe, but the ADV Tornadoes have their probes on the right. There's nothing consistant about UK aircraft design philosophies....
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I know on motorcycles you always mount from the left side. At least I do !

Only if it's on it's propstand.  When mines on the centre stand I get on from whichever side is closest.

Thinking about it I always mounted a bike pedal cycle from the left hand side.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
