That is nice.  You can imagine the silver mirage breaking out of the dull Rafale.  Gotta agree that the Rafale is the epitome of Gallic "style" compared to its competitors which invariably look like they're made of slap-sided blocks of concrete.

It could be like the "power-up" in superhero comics or video games. The boring grey Rafale tools along doing it's boring grey best, but when the ultimate final boss appears, it sheds the grey paint and the silver scheme blazes through, instantly doubling the specs and winning the day via sheer coolness.
