AEW, twin engined alternative to the Skyraider.  Use the solid nose with the gun ports faired over, rob a radome from a Skyraider kit.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

All the ideas presented by everyone are nice, but I think I'm going to stick with the Korean War B-25 idea. ;) Now all I need is some Korean War decals and a good camouflage scheme to use.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

The Korean War B-26s were all-over black with red markings scattered liberally about the airframe. Your B-25 could look worse than using a scheme like that.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

You could allways make it a firebomber.

Thanks

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Why keep it as a plane? Make a space ship! Or scale-o-rama it and make a car. Or Transformers 1941 and make it a robot.
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

How about a primative example of a all-missile 'fighter' similar to the Douglas F6D Missileer. Fit some turboprops? Hang missiles on the belly and on the wingtips? Maybe extend the length of the wings for high altitude agility? A B-29 escort.

No, not yet.

Went to my local model club meeting today to get advice for this project. Most of the members thought it would be a good and unique idea.  A few members thought that there were actually B-25's that served in the early years of the Korean War and encouraged me to look harder for references. I've scoured the Net, but haven't found anything. One link I went to is this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USAF_units_and_aircraft_of_the_Korean_War
Majority of bomber units that served in Korea were B-29 and B-26 units. The B-25 never was in Korea.

I think I've got a good what if subject here. ;) I'll most likely paint the aircraft all black with red accents for a night attack variant. Have 8 guns in the nose, Keep the gun pods on either side of the cockpit, Keep the upper fuselage turret, Keep the rear tail turret, Ditch the side fuselage waist guns, and add under wing rockets. What I really need is some good Korean War unit decals. Maybe find some from a B-26 kit and add them to the B-25 instead. Anybody know of any good 1/48 scale B-26 Invader decal sheets that might be good to use?
