Tiger, Tiger!

I never guessed a Mig-21 fuselage was in there.

My first thought (probably due to the finish, but also the IRST) was of a single-seat, single-engine F-101. Then the Grumman F11F came to mind (a much neglected plane, that).

Superb!  A plane novice wouldn't pick it as a whiff.

As for
QuoteAnyway, this project made me wonder if a F-105F (or G) with a bigger radome, some serious AAMs and in ADC Grey would not look cool? It could have been sold to Canada, instead of the F-101Bs?
- now, there's an idea!
Whatever.

Inspiration is luring everywhere... but I'd wonder what an F-105 in Canadian colors (bei it an interceptor, or maybe a fighter bomber?) would look like? Should be a pretty result, though...

Concerning the look of the F-109 - totally with you, and I felt the same when I tinkered it together. It has many familiar lines and details - I also found the nose to be very F-101ish, and it also reminds much of the F-106. The area-ruled fuselage looks like a F-105, but then the proportions are not "correct" - and the MiG-21 fuselage is not visible at all anymore. You would not expect it in here, though - but that was also part of the plan. Nevertheless, the result is pretty conclusive, even elegant, IMHO.
