My son heard about this somewhere but he can't find anything about a kit anywhere. He wants to build it with my grandson who loves the Transformer movies, like all little guys do.
So is there a real Optimus Prime kit or is it something someone built one of for him/her self?

I think,if you took an old toy of him apart for the detail bits, used an old Kenworth tractor unit kit, and combined the lot with one of those 8" tall sculpting mannequins, then you might be on to something!

They're out there, but they're *not* cheap.

HLJ has a few types, most are Action Figures.  And the September re-issue of the Prime model by Takara Tomy is cheaper, initially than I found on Amazon (79 versus 135 bucks), but shipping will probably bring it close to parity.

Back in the day, there was one from Monogram. However it was a rebox of a kit from Mosepda. I had one but it was far too complex for my tastes. There was also one for the "Bad Guy". It was of a guy and his armored motor bike. Neither were kits for kids.

Thank you for your replies. We found one but it is very complex and has more warnings about small and sharp bits than a Ginzu knive set! That and it is very expen$ive.
